Flights: Relaxation Tips

There are many, many relaxation tips that can help create a more comfortable and enjoyable flight. Relaxation on a plane can be as simple as obtaining a head pillow. It really depends on the person as to what they need to get comfortable. Here are some things that you can try.

1. A head or body pillow. Both types of pillows are designed for ultimate comfort. To make it easier to adjust to them, you should sleep on them for a few days prior to your trip. Then, once you board the plane, your body or head is already used to the pillow making it more soothing and comfortable. You have your smells and your shape worn into the pillow a little bit and it really does allow a better comfort level. A mental relaxation tip for a person, who brings their own pillow, is cleanliness. It is not possible for the pillows that are on the airplanes to be washed between flights, so if you bring your own, you eliminate the risk of getting germs from the pillows.

2. A footrest. Using a footrest will allow you to be more comfortable during flight, but only if you are used to one. If you do not use one on a regular basis, then you might not want to try it on the flight. You can even take a hard covered carry-on suitcase and use it. I take a pillow or a blanket and put it on tip to keep my feet from hurting, but I love this relaxation tip.

3. A small amount of an alcoholic beverage – If you consume a small amount of an alcoholic beverage prior to or during flight, you allow your body to relax more. Just make sure that you do not board a plane intoxicated. You can put yourself at risk and other passengers if an emergency does arise.

4. Sleep. Sleeping during flight is probably the best relaxation tip. Sleep allows the time of the flight to fly by. Before you know it, you are waking up in your destination city. Sleep also reduces or can eliminate jet lag symptoms. Jet lag can last through your entire trip and can ruin it. I know sleeping is not always easy to do on a plane, but it is possible.

5. Reduce stress – reducing the amount of stress you have during the flight is another relaxation tip. You can do this in hundreds of ways; taking a few drinks of an alcoholic beverage might help, walking around the waiting area, etc. Anything that you do at home to relieve or reduce stress, try doing it before you board the plane or while on the plane, if that is an option.

6. Stretch frequently – If you get up every 30 minutes or as needed to stretch, it will help alleviate any cramps that are resulting from sitting still to long. At the very least, it will probably reduce them. No one likes having a stiff neck, so anything you can do to avoid or reduce this is good.

7. Drink lots of fluids – Water is the best thing you can drink during flight. However, if you need an alcoholic beverage to stay calm, try to mix some water in between sips to keep yourself hydrated. Being hydrated will help you relax and ultimately will give you more strength when you arrive at your destination and want to take the grand tour.

8. Wear comfortable clothing – Even if you are going on a business trip, wear comfortable clothing. A relaxation tip that helps everyone is being comfortable in your clothes. If you wear pants that are too tight, you are not going to be comfortable sitting in them after an hour. So, wear things that are loose and comfortable.

9. Time zone changes – Try to adjust to the new time zone prior to landing or before leaving for the trip. If you make your body adjust to the time zone that your destination spot is located, you will make it easier on your body when you arrive there. One of the major causes of illnesses on trips is the time zone change affects. Your body is used to receiving foods, sleep, etc. at specific times. If you drastically change all of these times without your body being able to adjust, you can very easily develop a common cold. Who wants that on vacation?

Relaxation tips are important during flight. People need to feel relaxed to keep anxiety to a minimum or to keep the body from going into shock. Most of the problems with getting comfortable during flight can be fixed easily you just have to think about what you would do if you were at home.
